Today, we'll be pleased to hear from Marilyn Thompson, who will be giving a presentation titled "Using Daughters of the American Revolution Research to Strengthen and Extend Your Pedigree." Marilyn graduated in 2005 from BYU with a bachelor's degree in family history. She interned at the National Archive in Georgia and later served for three years at the Family History Library in Salt Lake. She has also served as a Family History Center Director for three years in Orem, Utah. Now, we'll turn the time over to Marilyn, and she'll be able to give us a presentation today. Well hello! I am so excited to be here. I usually start my class out by asking the class members why they decided to take this class. For this class, sometimes they'll say, "Oh, I have an aunt who is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and I want to know all about it." Other times, they'll be men in my class, and they'll say, "Wow, I found a Daughters of the American Revolution sticker on a headstone, and that opened up all of my research." DAR is a unique non-profit organization that seeks to assist our Germanic Lineage Research members to provide for a better understanding and coordination of the Germanic branch of the Jewish People. This can be a certified copy of a Birth Certificate of a father or other parent, a Passport, a Certificate of Residency or some other document that shows your citizenship or residency status in the country in which the application for your lineage status took place. For the second generation and below, please be prepared to submit at least one original source record: -A Certificate of a Marriage, the Solemnization of which shall be proved by someone who attended the ceremony -A Certificate of a Registration, which shall be proved by a Notary, if he is a Registrar of Births, Deaths or Marriages. —A Certificate of a Birth, if that is required. —Any other document that shows your citizenship, residency or citizenship status.
